Superb Youngsters

Having fallen behind with most things of late I have today tried to catch up on some of my recent photos.  I was pleased when our oystercatcher chicks finally ventured out into the open being carefully watched over by the 2 adults.  Here they are at approximately 2 weeks old and growing fast.

The whole family

And still a lot of defending to do once out in the open

Our other youngsters are growing by the day

and a trip to Abbotsbury produced some wonderful predictable sights

while waiting back at home was a young great tit and 2 young robins

My airspace

Suddenly over the last week there has been an influx of house martins and swifts over my house plus this beautiful pair of swallows.  With the nice weather that has finally arrived this week I have found a bit of time to sit in the garden and watch them.  It has been fascinating how they chatter away to each other continuously and follow each other everywhere.

The house martins have been collecting mud and flying over

and finally one of the 8 local swifts.  Not the best of photos as it was rather high but could not leave it out of this line up.
